:)

Making me smile today... a little scene I snapped in my home.

The Mr has recently become obsessed with playing the banjo
and I'm surprised at how much I love it.

These flowers are from a vine - I have no idea what they're called.

They're actually the neighbour's and I pinched them from our
shared fence for a dinner party on Friday night.

What's making you smile today?

44

Times like these you think about the years that have gone by...
So much has happened but it really isn't that long when you think about it.
Count the years by haircuts, start blond but end black.
Thinking of growing my hair again...
What a funny thing it is to be getting older and yet be feeling so much younger at heart.
[Perhaps this is a middle-aged ramble!]

Happy Birthday to Me :)

Halcyon Days :)

My little sister Belinda turns 40 this week and we've been looking over some old photos. This is my favourite - absolute favourite - photo from my childhood... my sister and I playing in the cubby house our dad made for us (we're the two blondies and that's our cousin Jodie on the right). I've been pondering over what it is that makes a particular pic our most favourite... is it the cubby house? Surely not those fluffy pink and red ribbons ;) Do you have a favourite photo from childhood? Is there a reason why it's special or does it somehow embody the spirit of childhood as a whole? ... just wondering :)

Building Facades

London

Rome

Paris

I was going through my photos and remembered my obsession last year with how buildings are being clothed these days. I haven't seen it so much in Australia but the top two photos of St Paul's in London and a building in Rome, both show this fab trend to cover scaffolding with images of the building, and sometimes (unfortunately) ads too, while it's undergoing renovation. Then there's the trend to give buildings a permanent outer adornment, like the above building in Paris. I just love it – isn't it fabulous?

Photo Booth love

Photobooth Key

There's something about a photo booth that I just love... is it the secret hidey-hole thing? It's definitely romantic and fun, but it also links into that whole creative space thing – crammed in with friends or lover, you play-act and pull faces, sequence your moves and laugh hysterically...
These photo booth strips are the brainchild of Keetra Dean Dixon. People enter the booth and pose for their two shots and then, during the developing process, the photos are customised randomly with different symbols and patterns from the Key (above). This is just so fabulous – I love it! Check out more examples here.

Web Find: How We Say Hello

I think I've found my all-time favourite blog... How We Say Hello. This one's a shared blog between two friends, Famapa in London and Sandra in Gothenburg, Sweden. Both are passionate about photography and each week they choose a new theme and post their daily interpretations... It's just magical. So simple. So beautiful.

Topic 17 from last week - my fav post so far

Both friends have their own blogs and they're pretty spec too. Sandra's has loads of craft and photography and Famapa's is mostly photography.

Sandra's other blog, Smosch, is here.

Famapa's other blog, My Funny Eye, is here.

They're not the only ones doing this either – there's an Australian duo, Amy and Luci, who have a fab site too, We Make Words. These guys take it in turns to photograph a word made of found objects and each word has to somehow relate to the one before it.

The last two posts from We Make Words

Luci's other blog is Happiness Etc and Amy's is Tummy Ache. Both are blogs of illustration, craft, photography and even a bit of cooking sometimes.

15 Minutes!

I've been searching for inspiration to make a card for my friend Lisa's 40th birthday and came across these photos from... actually I'm not sure. I think it was about 1992.
We were in a band together singing harmonies - the Sisters Karamazov! Here we are performing at the New Farm Street Festival. Happy days. Happy 40th Lisa! Card is on its way...
