Our Creative Spaces: Zen Brooches

Do you remember this brooch? Well, I decided to make some more.

I hurt my foot and haven't been able to move around much.

I had to do something, so I've been micro-crocheting and constructing some
more Zen brooches.

I like the idea of things being a one-off so they are all slightly different from each
other and the original.

And they're in the shop.

Hope you've had a productive, injury-free week. Find more creative spaces here.

Handmade goodies

It was another excellent week for post this week. So exciting that the very talented Melanie from M* has opened an Etsy Store. Have a peek at her fabulous jug/glass covers here. Also, the lovely Evie from Handmade Romance just keeps coming up with brilliant ideas in her Etsy Store. I couldn't resist her courting couple who now sit saying 'hi' to each other on my bed :) Hope you are having a great weekend!

Inspiration: Leah Giberson

For me, I think it's a weird kind of nostalgia... I find myself approaching the work of Leah Giberson with a feeling of utter longing for the quiet, lost-in-time quality of her paintings. The era is so evocative of my childhood and yet the scenes are actually quite foreign to me - we didn't have this kind of manicured 1960s in suburban Brisbane! ;) And yet I find myself responding to it in such a deep way... Perhaps it's episodes of The Brady Bunch all mixed in with my own childhood!? LOVE love love it :)

You can see more of Leah Giberson's work at her Etsy store or on Flickr.

Inspiration: Mrs Eliot's Books

Here's an inspiring find – Mrs Eliot Books. Aren't they gorgeous? The retro prints, the vibrant colours and witty text on hinged wooden pieces are just my cup of tea! (Love the ceramics in the photos too!) She also does incredible cards and prints which I'm also featuring on Scissors + Paper Rock. Oh, and her fab blog can be found here.

Etsy Love

Something's Hiding Here is my latest greatest Etsy love. Imagination, wit and originality – it's a powerful combination, and these guys seem to have it in buckets. I have to confess their "You Are What You Love" necklace was too irresistible for me this morning when I found my way to their shop via the blog Love it A Lot.
All the necklaces began life through their Your Message Here project.
