Pen + Wash

I've been working on some pen + wash ideas over the Easter break. It's been such a satisfying meditative thing to do. First I do the watercolours and add colour wherever it takes my fancy. Then, after they dry, I draw with the pen responding to the colour dabs. I'm trying not to think too much as I do them but often I find myself adding more colour with a pen afterwards wherever it feels bare. If you click on the image you can see them in more detail. Hope you like them. I think the bottom one is a bit Marimekko ;)

Those are so very beautiful.
I really love the top one. Thanks for sharing them - I totally get that they can be very meditative. I might have to try that myself while the kiddos are slopping paint on paper!

Have a happy day.
xx Amy

P.S. I'm doing a giveaway later this week - stop by and get in!

These are truly lovely pieces. I can definitely sense a very organic development — like the way water streams.

beautiful kylie~ love the combination of detail and stripes in the second one. i think the stripes are your trademark across mediums :)
nice that you had some creative meditation.

They're really lovely, Kylie. I like the technique. I've been experimenting with some watercolor lately, might have to try something like this.

My favourite is the top one Kylie. I'm so impressed when an artist manages a limited colour palette so well. Lovely.
