Retro find

I had a lot of fun re-discovering Cath Kidston's work while I was in London. It seems her particular brand of design-cute and nostalgia has really taken off as she had shops (almost) everywhere I looked. There was a bit of indulgence on my part, I will admit... (Some of it to be shared very soon!) I tried to stay strong but it was these retro fabric bags that were my undoing ;) Aren't they divine? The fabric is the real deal - it has that fabulous crepe-feel, if you know what I mean? I'm still chasing down the name and designer... leafing through retro fabric texts looking for my wonderful find... *sigh* Love Saturdays :) Hope you have a lovely weekend!

The bags are beautiful Kylie! I love that 50's style of fabric. You are very lucky!

I really like those bags Kylie. Yes,, Cath Kidston was everywhere last time I went to the UK, she'd even brought out CK flowery radios ...
This is a very Lucienne Day-ish type of fabric, isn't it? Bark cloth? Heals are celebrating their bicententary and have launched a great book featuring work by all the fabric designers who designed for them, if you're interested.

I love those fabrics too. I'm pretty sure it is "barkcloth" made of heavy cotton but with the "crepey" feel you describe and very popular in the 50's and 60's. This may help you with your research.

Oh these are gorgeous Kylie- particularly the top one- I find your determination to be 'strong' and the way you 'give in'....to the beautiful things, so totally endearing! You make me laugh- Did you make the bags?
Love ya,

i love this style.

I was thinking they are either a Lucienne Day design or Marian Mahler.

These patterns are brilliant, I have been trying to achieve this sort of look with some of my work, it's not easy to achieve such a random look.
