New in the Hood

I made a discovery today.. a new hangout just down the road from me.

Sourced Grocer is one of those inner city, eatery-grocer places that I tend to associate with other (larger) cities, but it works fabulously in this area of renovated wool store factories that have been converted into apartments. 

The fit-out is simple and relaxed, the food and coffee are great, and you can buy local produce from sausages to vegetables and fresh breads to flowers :)

Why did it take so long?

This is not an ad... it really is simply a local find.

Inspiration: Ari Athans

I am so inspired by the stunning new paintings of Ari Athans. I love their strong graphic nature and pallette combined with some sublime detailing.

I've posted about Ari before – she's a well-known Brisbane jeweller and her shop is just up the road from me (serious temptation!)

Actually, the gallery where her current paintings are being shown is just up the road too...

Ceramic lace + organic skirts

I've just received some yummy crafty post :) I'm a hopeless case when it comes to resisting a beautiful brooch. These lovelies are the latest creations of talented ceramicist Kim Wallace here in Brisbane. Had to have them and how could I possibly choose between them? Kim is also the driving force behind the creative e-shop Udessi... have a stroll around and see all the fabulous goodies she has on offer.

I had coffee with the lovely Mady yesterday and she hand-delivered one of her divine pieces... I'm totally in love with this skirt :) Mady creates these pieces from organic cottons and hemp which she dyes herself. You can see her shop here and she has two fabulous blogs, Abundance and Mady Dooijes, as well as a gorgeous Tumblr site.
