I've allowed myself to get a little distracted this week, away from triangles and onto something else. Actually, there's a reason for this... I've always loved the patterns you can knit, but rather than learn how to knit, I've wanted to crochet them. Strange but true ;)
So, I was more than a bit excited when I came across this crochet pattern
for Outline Squares... it looks like knitting, don't you think?
Only problem is, because you start each row anew (ie no turning),
you end up with a lot of ends that will need to be dealt with...
... or think of something that needs a fringe!
The back crochets up pretty nicely too I think.
So what did you get up to in your creative space this week?
Pop over to Our Creative Spaces to see more or to join in yourself.
When I saw all those ends I had to step away from the computer. YIKES! So yes, I think a fringed 'something would look very spiffy! (cushion cover?)...
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, I definitly thought it was knitted! The back is lovely too, but those ends- I like the cushion idea, something to hide them!
ReplyDeleteI like how this looks almost 3D.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Man - I need to learn to follow a pattern! Soon, soon!XX
Very cool indeed. Perhaps you could hide the ends by stitching a binding around the outside of what you make? Like the satin edges on the sides of woolen blankets?

I find your creative obsessions so fascinating. I just love how you go with it and try it all. I once tried to learn to knit and crochet and I remember my dad yelling at me that only old ladies did that stuff (I was only 18) and I never picked it up again!
ReplyDeleteThere was nothing creative going on for me this week at all. It was all research, writing and paperwork.
Very interesting. It worked out quite well. Have fun with those ends!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it Kylie! Both sides too!
ReplyDeleteand I think too go with the fringed thinking, I think it sort of adds to it xo
Love the textures & the back is super too! It's fun to see you search ways to translate your ideas into real things! :)
ReplyDeletegreat pattern Kylie! haven't seen it before. the fringe is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely, I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteI tried knitting but couldn't get the hang of it. Crocheting seems so much easier. I love the outlined squares. Have never seen anything like it before. Very cool! Have a great day. Tammy
ReplyDeletethis looks beautiful but yes those ends look daunting a fringe must be looking pretty good!!!
ReplyDeleteBecause I am strange about tassle things I will go against what everyone says and say no to the tassles. Its just that , like I cannot walk past a rug without straightening it, tassles would drive me to distraction, making sure they were all poking out not under... but aside from that it is very lvoely as were your triangles that I just looked at.
ReplyDeletethe back looks amazing! so neat! it's going to be a cool item whatever you decide to do with it ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooks so difficult to make!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteKylie, this patern is gorgeous!! i have to try it!!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing ;)
have a nice week!!
xx
I thought it must be knitted too! I must try this - the back's so neat it would be perfect for a knitted blanket.
