Being part of the Commonwealth, we have a lovely little holiday every June called the Queen's Birthday holiday. I'm not sure why but it always comes as a surprise in this family - it's a nice little treat just before school holidays and it happened yesterday. So, what can you do with an extra day to your weekend? Well, my Big Girl and I did some crafting. I have a few projects on the run at the moment but I suddenly needed to do some embroidery... and the BG taught herself how to blanket stitch her pin cushion together. We had fun :) What did you get up to?

Great looking pieces! Talented, the two of you. I love how you used the fabric background on yours, too.
And don't you just love that 'Friday Feeling' just before an extra long weekend?! Can see the stitchery gene runs in the family...
Wow - what skill. And really creative original pieces too. I just love it when the embroidery bug calls to me :)
i have missed seeing your stitchwork ...this is so vibrant and fun! enjoy your holiday
Oh! Such lovely and inspiring work. Those lil blue flowers are delightful. And I love those brilliant red flowery shells.

Wow they look good, what a nice gift to pass onto your daughter. I am wondering why we don't have this holiday in England!!!! 4 day weeks are the best. Dillon and Matilda are playing with their dolls in the kitchen (yes I know) Dillon said nice music mum, that will be yours Kylie!
love it when you shoe us the things you have made :)
oops that would be "show" instead of "shoe"
hee-hee
maybe its a sign that i should go shoe shopping today :)
Looks like you had a fab day and well done to the BG on her pin cashion it is gorgeous x
Interesting that you celebrate the Queen's birthday in June. In Canada, we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday in May.
What beautiful creations you and your daughter made yesterday. I love days like that!
wow Kylie your stitchery is absolutely gorgeous!!! I love it soooo much and how clever is your Big Girl, her pincushion is brilliant! She has done such wonderful work. I think your blog makeover looks fab it really fits in so well with your header. I must say too Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs were a treat in our house too in the 70s I saw them and bought them a few years ago and to me they just were not the same at all, still sweet but a lot of salt or something? added to them, just not what I remember
I am totally loving your appliques - so colourful - I feel very inspired!! Big Girl is so clever!
How is it a commonwealth country gets the Queens birthday as a holiday and yet we Brits don't?! Puzzled me for years!
Great music - I love the song (except it reminds me of the mobile phone company advert!) Lol
Those jelly fish are AMAZING!!! Love it!!!
Great little pin cushion as well!
Both of your work is fabulously. I'm especially loving those gorgeous reds and yellows on the camo print.
