I love travelling. Everything about it feeds my soul and inspires me. One of my secret pleasures is being in the plane taking off over the countryside and seeing all the partitioned land parcels and crop sections. There's an indescribable beauty to it... a gift you only get a proper glimpse of when you're flying above. I think this just might be a love I share with the very talented Liz Eeuwes who has designed her first collection of rugs using the rich colours and diverse landscape of the Scottish countryside as her inspiration. She has experimented with different pile heights and textures, hand knotting and weaving to accurately reflect the visual feast of these landscapes. Best of all, each rug is hand made. Fitting, then, that they will be part of the Futures area at the 100% Design exhibition during London Design Week, 24 - 27 September 2009. I found them here.

Gorgeous! That second rug instantly reminded me of the Dutch tulip fields! Maybe I could bring a piece of home with me afterall...
I totally understand what you are saying and definitely see it here, thanks Kylie
They're lovely, I really want to touch & feel the different textures
Just fabulous !- I share your love of travelling and of thoroughly enjoying the 'view from above'! These are just so playful and inspiring!
Thank you Kylie,
Annamaria xx
Beautiful find Kylie. I, too, enjoy the patterns of fields from above. I also love seeing sections of grassland and drystone walling, so common to the Yorkshire moors.

I love looking down at parcelled land from an airplane too :) These pieces are really very beautiful.
